Casino War Review
Casino War is a perfect example of what you might discover in your quest for new or unusual casino games. While the name might sound a little daunting, have no fear. Casino War is a fun and easy casino game to learn to play. What’s even better, Casino War gives you a great chance at winning and giving the casino good hiding, with an RTP of 97.83%.
What is Casino War?
Since most casino games (with the exception of poker) are a contest between the player and the house (the casino), surely all casino games are a bit like war? So, what gives with the name ‘Casino War’?
The game itself is based on an old casino card game simply called ‘War’, which was super popular in the 20th century. In War, two players equally divide a standard deck of playing cards. Suits are ignored and Aces are high. The idea is for each player to play a card from the top of their pile of cards.
Each player places their card face down in the middle. The player with the higher value wins the two cards. However, if the two face-up cards are the same value, a ‘war’ begins. Now, each player places a new card face down, followed by another card face up. Again, the one with the higher value wins all the cards in the middle and adds them to the bottom of their stack.
Casino War works in exactly the same way. However, instead of just two players, you now have a player and a dealer scenario. The dealer deals a card to his position and one to the player position. If the player’s card is a higher value, he wins the bet. If the dealer’s card is a higher value, the player loses the bet. As you can see, Casino War is probably the easiest casino card game you will find to play, either in the real world or online.
Casino War – Rules and Gameplay
While the gameplay may be very simple to understand and to play, there are still a number of rules that you will need to be aware of. The standard game of Casino War is usually played with six decks of playing cards. Each deck contains 52 playing cards. In Casino War, the cards are ranked in much the same way as in poker, with Aces being the highest value in the deck.
The game begins when the dealer deals a face-up card to the player, and a face-up card to the dealer position. If the player’s card is higher in value, they will automatically win their wager. However, if the dealer card is higher in value, they will automatically forfeit their bet.
What Happens if There is a Tie?
A tie occurs when both the dealer’s card and the player’s card are of the same value. In this case, two options will be available to the player:
- Surrender – The player has the option to surrender. If he chooses this option, he will lose only half of his wager.
- Go to War – The player can choose to rather go to war. In this instance, the player is required to double his wager.
What Happens if the Player Goes to War?
Should the player choose to go to war, the dealer will then discard three cards from the deck. This is known as ‘burning’ the cards. Next, the dealer deals a fresh card to the player, and a fresh card to the dealer position.
Three possibilities then come into play:
- Player’s card is higher in value = Player wins his original wager only.
- Dealer’s card is higher in value = Player loses his entire wager (doubled wager).
- A tie between the two = Player wins the full wager (doubled wager).
What About Side Bets?
There is a simple side bet available in Casino War. In this side bet, a player is able to bet on a tie result. If the player takes this side bet and the tie occurs where the dealer and player card are of equal value, the player wins a payout of 10:1 to his original wager value.
5 Great Casino War Strategies for Winning
As you may have gathered by now, Casino War is a simple and easy game to learn to play. In fact, you can start playing the game after just a few minutes. However, like any casino game, it is always worth learning and adopting useful strategies to increase your chances of winning.
Play Casino War for Free – Playing Casino War for the free online game is our first strategy tip. You can find free Casino War games online here at casinofy at the top of the page. Playing free games means you don’t have to worry about betting your own money (or losing it).
In this way, you can practice your Casino War strategies as much as you like, stress-free. Once you feel confident enough in your Casino War strategies, you can always have a go at a real money game.
Don’t Go For the Side Bet – While the side bet might sound tempting, never take it. It’s a trap. The bait is the huge odds of a 10:1 winning payout. However, this is deceptive since the chances of a tie result are actually a lot lower than you think.
Casino War uses 6 decks of cards. This is done so that both the player and the dealer have an equal chance of winning. This gives each a 46.3% chance of a win.
On the other hand, getting a tie result is only a 7.4% chance. Add to that the house edge, which in the side bet jumps to a staggering 18.5%.
Don’t Go For the Surrender Option – In the event of a tie, you have two options available to you: you can either surrender or go to war. However, surrendering is a bad idea and should be avoided.
Why? Well, for starters, you end up automatically losing half of your wager. Something else to consider: when you surrender, the house edge goes up to 3.7%. On the other hand, if you go to war, the house edge drops to just 2.8%.
Bet Small and be Disciplined – Just like any casino game out there, Casino War is designed to always give the casino the advantage. What this means is that, eventually, you will lose. However, by betting small and keeping a disciplined eye on your bankroll, you can last long enough to make the game worthwhile.
Keep an Eye Out for Aces – In Casino War, the Ace is the highest-ranking card in the game. If you apply the Casino War strategy to this fact, it means you should always be aware of what cards the dealer has already put out. Furthermore, what is the frequency of the dealer dealing Ace cards? Having an idea of this will give you a rough idea of when the next Ace card might be showing up.
In other words, if you haven’t seen an Ace for some time, it will probably show up very soon. What this intends to do, is give you a bit of an edge when playing against the dealer, as you can be ready to take advantage with either a win or perhaps a tie.
Summary
To summarize, Casino War is an ideal game for players looking for something different. Though there may be many strategies to playing the game, it isn’t half as complex as it appears to be. In fact, players who enjoy variety have rooted for the game, making it a popular choice for both novice and seasoned players!
