Taco Brothers Saving Christmas Slot Review
Elk Studios comes up with amazing sequels, and Taco Brothers Saving Christmas slot, the successor to the original Taco Brothers slot, is definitely one of the best they have designed. In this game, it’s Christmas in Mexico, and once again they have to save their tacos from the Evil Captain Diaz. Of course, the lovely Senorita, Diaz’s daughter – and you – are there to help them in their fight!
Before you jump in to save the day, it would be best to understand what you are dealing with in this high volatility game! So, read our review and find out what you need to do to win!
Gameplay
To begin playing Elk Studio’s Taco Brothers Saving Christmas, you need to set your bet. You need to choose one of 5 betting strategies:
- Traditional Bets: Set your bet amount and spin!
- Jumpers: Raise your bet on a win up to 4 levels, and reset when you lose.
- Levelers: Raise your bet on 5 straight losses, and reset when you win.
- Boosters: Raise your bet after every loss up to 4 times, and reset when you lose.
- Optimizer: Bet a percentage of your balance.
Choose your betting strategy carefully because this is a high-volatility game with an RTP of 96.40%. This means that there will be long spells where you win little or nothing. So, it is best to stick to lower bet limits and safer betting strategies.
Once you have decided upon a strategy, you click on Spin to start your adventure with the Taco Brothers! To help them, you need to win. And to win, you need to land a minimum of 3 identical symbols on a payline. Lucky for you, this game has 243 different paylines on its 5 reels!
Now, the amount you get paid out from winning combinations depends on the kind of symbol you have landed as well as the number of that symbol you have landed. So, if you land one of the low-paying symbols (the Christmas streamer-wrapped guitar, the string-light festooned cactus, the bottle of tequila with a Christmas card, and the shovel and mining lamp in snow), then don’t expect to win more than 80 coins for 5 on a payline.
The high-paying symbols, Pico, Pepe, and Paso, pay you much more. Paso is the highest-paying symbol and if you land 5 of him on the reels, you win 400 coins! So, to win that elusive 1,500x prize, you need to trigger the additional game features in Taco Brothers Saving Christmas!
Additional Game Features
Here are the additional features of the game that make it really lucrative:
The Christmas Bell Wild – The Wild will replace all other symbols with the exception of the Safe Scatter and the Taco Brothers Wild. When this symbol lands on the reels, your chances of landing a winning combination go up.
Taco Brothers Wild – This Wild symbol will only appear on the second and fourth reels of the reelscape. And if you are lucky enough to land this Wild on both the reels, then you will trigger the Taco Brother Re-Spin Feature.
Taco Brothers Re-Spin Feature – When you land 2 Taco Brothers Wilds on reels 2 and 4, you will activate this feature. You will win a re-spin. To increase your chances of landing a winning combination in the re-spin, the Taco Brothers Wilds become sticky and stay on the reels. So, only reels 1, 3, and 5 re-spin. And if you land 3 Safe Scatters in the re-spin, you will activate the Wild Escape Bonus Feature.
Wild Escape Bonus Feature – This feature is a mini-game in itself. When triggered, a Bomb will explode on the reels and reveal a multiplier. The multiplier can be 1x to 3x. And then you are taken to a new reel set which is the Running Wild Feature!
The Running Wild Feature – In this Free Spin feature, you have a new reel set that features the three brothers, the evil Captain Diaz, and senorita, his daughter. The game starts with the 3 brothers landing on reel 5 in the form of Wilds. With each spin, the brothers move across the reels until Captain Diaz makes his appearance. Once he lands on the reels, he will ‘lock up’ one brother and freeze him on the reels. At this point, Senorita will enter the reels and free the trapped brother.
The Free Spins continue until all 3 brothers have escaped Captain Diaz’s clutches.
Game Design
The storyline of Taco Brothers Saving Christmas hasn’t changed from the original – the brothers battling Captain Diaz and his daughter helping them escape. But the theme of the game is Christmas and this is reflected in the game design. The sleepy Mexican town of Santa Maria is snow-covered, and darkness shrouds the village. The familiar symbols are decorated with Christmas baubles, and the music is also Christmassy!
The artwork is outstanding, with sharp graphics and wonderful animations. An excellent game design for a sequel!
